Maytag Dairy Farms
Seventy-seven years ago the first Maytag Blue was made.
On October 11, 1941, the first wheels of Maytag Blue Cheese were formed and put to age in the Maytag Dairy Farm caves. In the past seven decades, not much has changed – the truck is newer and the cheese makers are older – but they still make each wheel by hand and age it in caves twice as long as most other blue cheese. Today, the tradition continues.
